The Team We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer with 15+ years of professional experience building software systems. This is a fully hands-on role (~90% coding), ideal for engineers who are passionate about building systems from the ground up and solving complex technical problems in a cloud-first, AI-driven environment. In this role, you will lead high-impact projects that apply artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) from the ground up. You'll design and build cloud-native applications using Microsoft Azure, working extensively with agentic systems including collaborative software agents that operate autonomously to achieve complex objectives. How you will contribute
  • Write clean, maintainable, and production-ready code in C#, Java, or Python - this is a 90-100% hands-on engineering role.
  • Design and develop cloud-native, agentic systems with a focus on execution quality and technical depth.
  • Implement systems using Azure-native constructs such as Azure Functions, Durable Functions, Event Grid, and API Management to enable scalable, event-driven architectures.
  • Rapidly prototype and evaluate new SDKs, APIs, and cloud services to support evolving AI and multi-agent workflows.
  • Build high-performance, scalable, and maintainable cloud applications and services with strong observability and operational resilience.
  • Act as a technical lead for complex projects, solving challenging engineering problems and influencing design decisions within your team and adjacent teams.
  • Develop advanced monitoring and diagnostic systems to ensure end-to-end service reliability and performance.
  • Design, build, and integrate ML/AI services, APIs, and data platforms to enable real-time analytics, intelligent workflows, and seamless system interoperability.
  • Champion serverless and event-driven architecture patterns, applying orchestration tools and best practices.
  • Promote engineering best practices including automated testing, code quality, security, and observability.
  • Conduct design and code reviews, mentor senior and mid-level engineers, and elevate engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineering leads, and data science teams to deliver impactful technical solutions.
Qualifications
  • 12-15+ years of professional software development experience in backend or full-stack roles.
  • Candidates should be able to clearly articulate the scope, scale, and impact of their past contributions, especially in complex or mission-critical systems.
  • Deep hands-on experience with either one of C#, Java, or Python.
  • Experience working with AI/ML technologies, especially LLMs, RAG pipelines, and ML workflows.
  • Practical knowledge of autonomous agents, multi-agent orchestration, and frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, or Semantic Kernel.
  • Expertise in Azure SDKs, Cognitive Services, and cloud-native tools; experience with other cloud providers (AWS/GCP) will be considered.
  • Proven experience designing and building scalable, distributed systems, including greenfield development and system modernization.
  • Strong skills in microservices architecture, event-driven systems, and serverless platforms.
  • Solid understanding of cloud security, compliance, and cost governance in cloud environments.
  • Ability to deliver results in fast-paced, agile environments, and contribute as a hands-on technical leader.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills.
Nice to Have
  • Experience building and deploying custom copilots.
  • Experience in fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, or streaming technologies.
  • Experience building tools or platforms used by other developers.
  • Data mesh, data lakes, or real-time tools like Apache Beam or Apache Spark
