Overall Purpose
The Principal Site Reliability Engineer collaborates with development teams to design availability and resiliency patterns for applications and infrastructure.
Essential Functions
- Design and implement software and tools to improve performance, availability, scalability, and latency, ensuring high-quality, secure end products for customers.
- Support risk management by protecting system and data integrity and confidentiality.
- Build automation tools for deployment, configuration, and disaster recovery.
- Design, implement, and promote observability and monitoring systems to proactively identify issues.
- Continuously evaluate application capacity and recommend scaling strategies.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and collaborate on troubleshooting and resolution.
- Serve as a technical liaison, providing documentation and runbooks.
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations.
- Develop and promote best practices and reusable patterns across teams.
- Work with development teams to integrate reliability best practices and modern software design patterns.
- Act as a thought leader, mentoring team members and staying updated on industry trends.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, or related field.
- 12+ years managing large, complex projects in a technical environment, including post-graduate education.
- Proven leadership in incident management and RCA improvements.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex environments.
- Hands-on experience with technologies like Python, Go, Java, Docker, microservices, messaging frameworks, databases, caching, Linux, CI/CD tools, and networking.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and designing end-to-end systems.
- Background and drug screening required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming skills in Java, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
- Experience supporting 24/7 production applications.
- Knowledge of AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, and Swarm.
Compensation
In Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL: $180,000 - $220,000/year.
In New York, NY/San Francisco, CA: $190,000 - $230,000/year.
