Job Summary

A Principal Signal Processing and System Design Engineer is a versatile Electrical/Electronic Hardware Engineer who integrates electrical, mechanical, optics, software, and manufacturing methods into product designs and processes. Responsibilities include designing components for optical and magnetic encoders, implementing microelectronics, and developing electrical design architectures. The ideal candidate has extensive hardware and embedded software product design experience, with knowledge of ASICs, FPGAs, smart sensors, optical devices, and real-time industrial communication buses.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and update digital and analog electrical hardware systems.
  • Enhance digital and analog signal processing for improved speed, accuracy, SNR, and resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with EMC/EMI/ESD standards.
  • Integrate embedded systems using various protocols.
  • Research electrical hardware technologies to improve products.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of technical features.
  • Support and create new product designs.
  • Develop project scopes, cost estimates, feasibility studies, and schedules.
  • Manage electrical product architecture.
  • Resolve complex electronic or signal issues.
  • Collaborate with customers to define product specifications.
  • Perform other engineering duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:

    Skills:

    • Knowledge of signal processing concepts and procedures.
    • Proficiency with Instruments LabVIEW software.
    • Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
    • Understanding of compliance standards and certifications.
    • Ability to interpret and create controlled engineering drawings.
    • Provide technical support for electrical hardware.
    • Analyze reports using spreadsheets, databases, and charts.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; technical writing is a plus.
    • Ability to work professionally in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
    • Goal-oriented, innovative, and persistent in meeting schedules.
    • High ethical standards and attention to detail.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, math, or physics; Master's preferred.
    • Proficiency in integral calculus, differential calculus, and 3-D geometry.
    • Proficiency in C++ programming.
    • Minimum 5 years of product development experience from concept to production.
    • Experience with digital and analog hardware design, firmware, low power, sensors, and communication interfaces (Ethernet preferred).
    • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and FPGAs.
    • PCB design and layout experience.
    • Experience in motion control industrial applications.

    Job Details:

    • Full-time position with benefits.
    • Salary range: $100,000–$145,000 DOE.
    • Domestic and international travel required.
    • Willing to relocate to North Idaho.

    Essential Functions:

    • Sitting for extended periods.
    • Use of upper body, arms, and hands throughout the day.
    • Lifting 5-10 pounds periodically.
