Job Summary

A Principal Signal Processing and System Design Engineer is a versatile Electrical/Electronic Hardware Engineer responsible for integrating electrical, mechanical, optics, software, and manufacturing methods into product designs and processes. This includes designing components for optical and magnetic encoders, implementing microelectronics, and developing electrical architecture. The ideal candidate possesses extensive hardware and embedded software product design knowledge, with experience in ASICs, FPGAs, smart sensors, optical devices, and real-time industrial communication protocols.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and update digital and analog electrical hardware systems.
  • Enhance signal processing speed, accuracy, SNR, and resolution.
  • Ensure compliance with EMC/EMI/ESD standards.
  • Integrate embedded systems using various protocols.
  • Research electrical hardware technologies to improve our products.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of technical features.
  • Support and create new product designs.
  • Define project scopes, estimate costs, assess feasibility, and schedule tasks.
  • Manage electrical product architecture.
  • Resolve complex electronic or signal issues.
  • Collaborate with customers to define product and specification requirements.
  • Perform other engineering duties as assigned.
  • Requirements:

    Skills:

    • Knowledge of signal processing concepts and practices.
    • Proficiency with Instruments LabVIEW software.
    • Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
    • Understanding of compliance standards and certifications.
    • Ability to create and update controlled engineering drawings.
    • Provide technical support for electrical hardware designs.
    • Analyze reports using spreadsheets, databases, and charts.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; technical writing is a plus.
    • Ability to work professionally in a team and independently with minimal supervision.
    • Goal-oriented with innovation and persistence.
    • High ethical standards and attention to detail.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, math, or physics; Master's preferred.
    • Proficiency in integral calculus, differential calculus, and 3-D geometry.
    • Experience in programming with C++.
    • Minimum 5 years of product development experience from concept to production, with proven solutions.
    • Experience with digital and analog hardware design, firmware, low power, sensors, and communication interfaces, especially Ethernet.
    • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and FPGAs.
    • PCB design and layout experience.
    • Experience in motion control industrial applications.

    Job Details:

    • Full-time position with benefits.
    • Salary range $100,000-145,000 or DOE.
    • Travel domestically and internationally.
    • Willing to relocate to North Idaho.

    Essential Functions:

    • Lifting 5-10 pounds periodically.
