Principal Engineer, R&D - Cardiovascular

As the Principal Engineer specializing in cardiac valve systems, you will lead an innovative engineering team focused on designing and developing advanced cardiovascular medical devices. This role demands comprehensive knowledge of engineering fundamentals and clinical applications in cardiac valve technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and mentor diverse engineering teams across mechanical and biomedical disciplines
• Support team member growth through guidance and professional development opportunities
• Oversee complete product development cycles for cardiac valve solutions from initial concept through market launch
• Partner with interdisciplinary teams spanning Research & Development, Quality Systems, Regulatory Strategy, and Manufacturing Operations
• Champion breakthrough cardiac valve innovations while balancing technical viability with clinical needs
• Partner closely with Regulatory Strategy teams to ensure cardiac valve designs meet all applicable standards and requirements
• Create and execute comprehensive project roadmaps with clear milestones and delivery targets
• Collaborate with Quality teams to establish rigorous quality control frameworks

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical discipline; Master's or Doctoral degree strongly preferred
• Minimum 10 years demonstrated experience in medical device development with emphasis on cardiac valves or cardiovascular systems
• Proven leadership capabilities with track record of managing cross-functional engineering organizations
• Comprehensive understanding of applicable regulatory frameworks (FDA, ISO standards) with hands-on regulatory submission experience
• Outstanding communication abilities for effective collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies
