Organization Overview:

Lilly is a global healthcare leader based in Indianapolis, Indiana, with 35,000 employees committed to making a difference. We are constructing a new API manufacturing facility in Lebanon, IN, which will be our largest investment in manufacturing capacity, supporting current and future products. This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of the startup leadership team for a greenfield manufacturing site, helping to build the organization, facility, and culture for a successful GMP manufacturing startup.

Responsibilities:

As a Process Control and Automation Engineer (I&C), you will provide ongoing support for automation platforms, troubleshooting process interruptions, diagnostics of field devices, communication issues, and platform security events. You will also contribute to enhancing automation system performance and operability.

Key Objectives/Deliverables:
  • Safety: Ensure safe design and operation of equipment, promote safety improvements, and reflect safety concerns in automation design.
  • Automation/Control Discipline: Support and improve automated systems and equipment.
  • Solution Support: Conduct performance reviews, verify proper operation, and support solution development and replication.
  • Tools and Standards: Manage tools, implement standards, and best practices.
  • Technical Coaching: Provide expertise and facilitate shared learning among engineers.
  • Project Support: Support integration of new equipment and technologies into manufacturing workflows.
  • Technology and Innovation: Stay current with trends to evaluate new technologies for application at Lilly.
  • Basic Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Technology, or related field
    • 8+ years' experience in industrial equipment control, API manufacturing process control, or automation systems
    • Experience troubleshooting instrumentation and control integrations
    • Strong problem-solving skills in measurements, control systems, and data management
    Preferred Skills:
    • Ability to work safely
    • Experience with automation platforms such as Delta-V and Rockwell
    • Knowledge of sensing and acting instrumentation
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Knowledge of GMP and pharmaceutical manufacturing
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Operating Systems
