Position Overview

Seeking an experienced, licensed Professional Engineer to lead complex building services and MEP systems design projects. Ideal candidate will influence technical direction, act as mentor and lead point of contact for clients and project teams, and deliver high‑quality mechanical engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as engineer of record for major building, institutional, or data center projects ($5 M–$75 M or larger).
• Lead design of HVAC, airside/waterside systems, chillers, boiler plants, BMS sequences, controls, and piping systems.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring for engineering staff, CAD/Revit users, and designers.
• Oversee and reviewLoad calculations, psychrometric analyses, energy modeling, CFD, duct sizing, pressure-loss, equipment selection, and specification writing.
• Review shop drawings, field design changes, and support construction phase coordination and QA across field teams and project managers.
• Liaise with clients, architects, and other trades to present design options, facilitate decision-making, and align engineering solutions with client goals.
• Conduct value engineering and constructability analysis across in-house and third-party designs.
• Ensure full compliance with NY and NYC mechanical, building, energy conservation, and fire codes; produce energy compliance and LEED documentation—LEED AP preferred.
• Participate in business development efforts and contribute technical input to proposals and client pitches.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in New York State (or eligible by comity) is required.
• 15+ years of mechanical engineering experience in building systems, MEP design, or mission-critical environments.
• Solid background in high-performance and sustainable building design, including LEED accreditation.
• Proficiency with Revit MEP, AutoCAD MEP, and energy modeling / CFD tools.
• Extensive knowledge of NYC and New York State codes, plus energy conservation, fire protection, and accessibility standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to present technical options clearly and confidently.
• Strong project and budget management skills; multi-project oversight capability.

Preferred Experience

• Technical experience with mission-critical data center design and commissioning workflow.
• Experience with public sector or institutional clients such as DASNY, CUNY, OGS.
• Experience in electrification and decarbonization strategy design.
