What you'll be doing...The Principal Cloud Platform Operations Engineer is a senior position within the VCP Core Webscale team. This role is responsible for onboarding and operational support for applications within Verizon Cloud Platform, including system and network administration supporting the 5G Core. The engineer will be a subject matter expert in automation and cloud computing, driving efficiencies and improvements.
The role involves leading feature implementation, providing feedback to engineering, and ensuring reliable and performant platform operation. Responsibilities include supporting the Openshift (Kubernetes) environment, storage, and network infrastructure, leveraging automation, and supporting tenant onboarding. The position requires flexible work hours, including overnight and weekend work, and participation in an on-call rotation.
The candidate will act as a subject matter expert in container-based cloud computing and automation, lead meetings with stakeholders, mentor junior team members, and serve as a point of escalation. They will also lead failure analysis, provide updates to management, and communicate effectively with tenants and customers.
What we're looking for...You're a technical specialist with strong problem-solving skills, effective stakeholder collaboration, and a passion for improving network design. You should have:
Preferred qualifications include experience with SDN, virtualization, OpenShift, OVN-Kubernetes, Multus CNI, Service Proxy, storage solutions, OpenStack, and effective communication skills.
