Possesses or is eligible for a West Virginia Principal's Certificate 2. Possesses a minimum of a Master's Degree 3. Has a minimum of three successful years teaching experience ACCOUNTABLE TO: Director(s) of Pre-K JOB GOAL: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills so as to promote the educational development of each student KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. School Leadership & Climate

  • Foster and sustain a positive, inclusive, and effective learning environment.
  • Plan, organize, and oversee all school operations and activities.
2. Administration & Communication
  • Keep the Superintendent apprised of school initiatives, challenges, and successes.
  • Offer strategic recommendations regarding school leadership, instructional improvement, and school administration.
  • Prepare, submit, and monitor the school's budget and expenditures.
3. Reporting & Records Management
  • Oversee maintenance of all essential building records, reports, and documentation.
  • Prepare or supervise the creation of required paperwork, lists, reports, and administrative records.
4. Collaboration & Coordination
  • Collaborate with central administration on district-wide issues such as transportation, special services, instruction, and human resources.
  • Inform the Deputy Superintendent of both significant and routine developments.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to board policies by staff and students.
5. Community Engagement & Communication
  • Build and maintain active, constructive relationships with students, parents, and the wider community.
  • Serve as the school's liaison to interpret school actions and encourage broader community participation.
6. Instruction & School Time Management
  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the instructional program.
  • Design class schedules within guidelines to meet student needs.
  • Oversee guidance services to promote individual student development.
7. Student Conduct & Support
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct and administer disciplinary measures fairly and consistently.
  • Supervise records of student progress and attendance.
8. Professional Development & Staffing
  • Pursue continued professional growth by engaging with professional organizations, workshops, and advanced education.
  • Supervise and evaluate all school personnel, including selection, orientation, scheduling, and professional development.
  • Recommend removal of staff if performance is unsatisfactory.
  • Facilitate parent-teacher special conferences as needed.
9. Facilities & Safety
  • Administer school safety procedures and manage school facility operations.
  • Oversee emergency preparedness, including fire drills.
  • Maintain accurate inventories and ensure security of school property.
10. Extracurricular & School Programming
  • Supervise all school-related programs and extracurricular activities.
  • Represent the school in staff and district-level meetings.
  • Serve as an ex-officio member of internal committees and councils.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for information or official correspondence, coordinating with the Public Information Office as needed.
11. Delegation & Coverage
  • Delegate responsibilities to qualified staff in the principal's absence.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent.
