Principal Engineer, iOS Applications - Ford Motor Company : Job Details

In the position of a Principal Engineer, iOS, you will influence our efforts in developing multiple global mobile applications supporting both retail and professional consumers. As a key member of our mobile app development organization within Ford's Connected Vehicle Software group, you will be a senior leader and subject matter expert among thousands of software engineers. Quality is paramount, with a focus on maintaining a negligible change failure rate.

Minimum requirements we seek:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 10 years as a software engineer, with at least 8 years developing iOS mobile applications.
• At least 5+ years in a technical leadership role.
• Comprehensive knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and emerging technologies.
• Expertise in native iOS app development, including Swift, SwiftUI, iOS architecture, build systems, and modularity.
• Experience leading large, modularized iOS applications following unidirectional data flow architectures like The Composable Architecture.
• Experience in project architecture and system design aligning with business objectives.
• Proven track record of improving developer experience on large mobile applications.

Preferred Requirements:

• Master's Degree or higher in relevant fields.
• Extensive experience supporting global applications with 24/7 operations.
• Passion for systematic improvements benefiting end users and organizations.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing product solutions.
• Knowledge of API design and cloud architecture for mobile products.
• Active engagement in industry forums and strategic partnership development.
