The ideal Design Engineer is a highly adaptable, software wizard, who possesses a keen eye for design and a deep appreciation for the nuances that shape exceptional user experiences — skillfully transforming visions and mock-ups into polished, high-quality products that drive success.What's my day-to-day?
• Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including visual designers and product managers, to develop and implement innovative solutions for web, iOS, Android, and backend systems, ensuring seamless integration of design and functionality
• Rapidly prototype and hack together solutions to test and validate new ideas, iterating on initial concepts to refine product experiences before committing to full-scale development
• Translate visions and mock-ups into polished, high-quality products that offer exceptional user experiences, while remaining mindful of technical constraints and performance optimization
• Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies, coding languages, and best practices, staying up-to-date with industry trends and advancements to drive innovation
• Participate in design reviews and brainstorming sessions, providing valuable engineering insights and feedback on design concepts and proposals to ensure technical feasibility and maintainability
• Collaborate with team members to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any technical issues or bottlenecks that may arise during the development process, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow
• Actively engage in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and growth
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of documentation, including technical specifications, system architecture, and API references, to support the ongoing development and scaling of products
What skills are we looking for?
• 7+ years of experience including strong expertise in full-stack software development, with demonstrated experience in web, iOS, Android, and backend technologies, such as JavaScript, React, Swift, Kotlin, and Node.js
• Adept at rapidly prototyping and hacking together solutions to test and validate ideas, with a willingness to iterate and refine software as needed for scalability and performance optimization
• A keen eye for design and a deep understanding of the principles that shape exceptional user experiences, ensuring seamless integration of aesthetics and functionality in product development
• Ability to learn and adapt quickly to new technologies, coding languages, and industry best practices, demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working well within interdisciplinary teams and providing valuable insights during design reviews and brainstorming sessions
• Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
$230,000 - $250,000 a year Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York City, NY. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
