Description OPEN UNTIL FILLEDJOB SUMMARY: The Prevention & Wellness Coordinator provides support for multiple projects and community-based services within the Prevention and Wellness Department. This position supervises Wellness Specialists and office staff to ensure strategic implementation, timely communication, continuity, and accountability for capacity building, and oversee specific grant and administrative services. This position also implements evidence-based best practices that increase behavioral health wellness by promoting substance use prevention and mental health wellness at the environmental, community, and individual levels.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Directly supervise Behavioral Health Wellness staff to implement evidence-based practices that support the implementation of the Strategic Prevention Framework through practices, programs, strategies, and policies proven to achieve population-level change effectively and efficiently by targeting community health disparities.Directly supervise office staff to ensure compliance with Agency policy and procedures, adherence to audit requirements, and efficient data collection requirements. Facilitate ongoing training for support staff. Serve as the site manager for the Galax Prevention Office.Develop capacity within the community by recruiting, training, and fostering specialized facilitators for prevention and wellness programs, conducting evaluations to document program implementation accuracy and effectiveness, and making recommendations for modifications to developers as appropriate. Mobilize and collaborate with key community stakeholders, leaders, and other community agencies to create awareness and implement strategies to increase protective factors and decrease risk factors. There will be an emphasis on shared factors that support a holistic wellness system. Implement environmental and community-based strategies, outlined in the DBHDS State Performance Contract, which are aimed at influencing community conditions, standards, institutions, systems, and policies to support the physical, economical, legal, and socio-cultural conditions of individuals and communities. Support the Senior Director on projects and participate in team meetings and other agency committees as needed. Represent the Senior Director at various internal and external meetings as needed and provide leadership on special projects.Implement, develop, and review reports for accuracy and monitor data to ensure targets are met as required. Assist Senior Director in the preparation/development of grants, budgets, surveys, progress reports, and other items as requested. Assist in developing a service area strategic plan that is comprehensive, logical, and data-driven to address the problems identified in the assessment and capacity-building process.Provide ongoing oversight of Prevention & Wellness disbursement account and charge account documentation. Provide check-writing services for Prevention & Wellness. Review revenues/expenditures relative to each grant's budget. Maintain a spreadsheet of charges for each grant for auditors. To act as a liaison with Agency Office of Budget and Finance.OTHER DUTIES:Work closely with evidence-based program developers to ensure fidelity and requirements are met.Receive a minimum of 20 hours of prevention-specific training each fiscal year.Help facilitate caring transitions during identification and referral to treatment services.Perform such duties as assigned by supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of grant writing and statistics.Knowledge of CSAP Prevention Strategies, the Strategic Prevention Framework, SAMHSA's 8 Dimensions of Wellness, and Holistic Wellness Services.Knowledge and skill in consultation and marketing prevention concepts and strategies.Knowledge of substance abuse disorders and treatment modalities.Cultural competency which includes knowledge of social and psychological factors that impact individuals, families, and communities.Skill in working effectively with people of all age ranges, socioeconomic status, and cognitive abilities.Skill in written and oral communication.Knowledge and skill regarding time management, goal setting and maintaining positive working relationshipKnowledge of and skill in the principles of management and supervisionKnowledge of and skill in budgetary and fiscal management areas and data analysis Minimum Requirements EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related degree. At least three (3) years of work experience in a relevant field.
