Press Operator - $19 - 20/hr - Stevens Industries : Job Details

DescriptionThe press operator performs highly repetitive types of short cycle machine operations associated with large quantity production of similar units. Paper handler for the press works in one area the greater percent of the time the feed the machine with paper arranging it onto a board. Puller starts it, stops machine and watch for imperfect operation and flawed paper. In case of trouble, the operator calls it to the attention of press operator or team leader. Normally works under close leadership.

Knowledge would normally be acquired through a high school diploma or GED.

One-year previous experience in manufacturing preferred.

Ability to read materials for accuracy of spelling, grammar and simple editing.

Ability to write to accomplish such tasks as completing forms or communicating simple instructions.

Ability to perform mathematics used to set up and operate machines and equipment.

The incumbent is familiar with their solutions. The problems are somewhat routine, and solutions are based on past practices. There are always alternative solutions available.

Ability to make decisions that are short-range and usually affect only a small group or work unit. Occasionally, other operations, services, individuals or activities may be affected.
