The Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park (AMM) invites an accomplished and visionary leader to serve as its next President & Chief Executive Officer. This is a unique opportunity to guide one of Annapolis's most respected cultural and environmental institutions at a pivotal moment of growth and community impact.
AMM is dedicated to preserving the rich maritime heritage of the Chesapeake Bay, fostering environmental stewardship, and engaging the local community through education, exhibits, and events. With three distinct campuses—our waterfront museum, expansive park, and newly developed education center—AMM seeks a leader who will elevate its profile, expand its reach, and ensure long-term sustainability across Annapolis and the Chesapeake region.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Chairman and Board of Directors, the President & CEO will:
- Provide visionary and strategic leadership to strengthen AMM's role as a leading community and regional resource.
- Build and inspire high-performing teams across education, development, operations, and programming.
- Advance AMM's mission by deepening local engagement and expanding its impact across the Chesapeake Bay region.
This position is ideal for a dynamic, mission-driven executive with a proven track record in nonprofit leadership, fundraising, and community partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Define and execute a compelling vision that positions AMM as a premier cultural and environmental hub for Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay region.
- Inspire, mentor, and empower staff to achieve organizational excellence.
- Partner with the Board to set strategic direction and ensure strong governance.
Operational & Financial Management
- Oversee finances with rigor and transparency, ensuring long-term sustainability.
- Direct campus operations across AMM's three distinct locations, ensuring seamless management of facilities, programs, and visitor services.
- Maintain exceptional visitor and educational experiences while championing innovation and best practices in nonprofit management.
Fundraising & External Relations
- Lead fundraising strategy, cultivating donors, sponsors, and local foundations.
- Serve as the chief ambassador and spokesperson, raising AMM's visibility throughout Annapolis and the Chesapeake region.
- Build enduring partnerships with local organizations, schools and community leaders, including the City of Annapolis, Anne Arundel County and the State of Maryland.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
- 10+ years of senior leadership experience in mission-driven organizations (nonprofit or related sectors).
- Proven record in staff management and team development.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising, development, and resource generation.
- Strong background in strategic planning, financial oversight, and organizational management.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Bachelor's degree required.
