The President/CEO is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization, defining the strategic direction in conjunction with the Board of Directors and the executive team. The President/CEO serves as the Administrative Executive of the Board, acting as an ex-officio member of all committees, including the Executive Committee. Responsibilities include overseeing leadership, strategy, governance, operational planning, program development, external relations, workforce management, financial operations, and risk management.
The role involves working with Pharma, CROs, academic centers, and community hospitals on various studies and trials. Key requirements include study ideation, development, contracting, operational excellence, budgeting, and revenue/expense management. Experience in hands-on management of a CRO, SMO, or clinical research consortia is ideal.
- Networking capabilities and experience within the lung cancer community.
- Fundraising skills are essential to support studies and activities.
- Deep understanding of clinical trials and their requirements.

- Oversight of all organizational aspects.
- Budget and revenue management, including setting objectives and metrics.

- Knowledge of the current state of science in the lung cancer community.
- Experience in multi-center, multi-party contract negotiations.
Leadership, Strategy, and Governance
- Collaborate with the Board and executive team to develop vision and strategic plans.
- Work with the Scientific Leadership Board to identify research opportunities and execute studies aligned with the mission to make lung cancer a survivable disease by 2023.
- Have deep knowledge of the healthcare and oncology industry, preferably in lung cancer, with experience in clinical trials.
- Oversee all contract negotiations with vendors, pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, academic, and community centers.
- Identify and communicate internal and external issues affecting the organization.
- Advise the Board on organizational activities.
- Foster effective teamwork between the Board, staff, and external partners.
- Act as a spokesperson and represent the organization at professional activities.
- Coordinate inter-organizational activities with partner 501(c)3 entities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field; Master's in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or similar preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive management experience in a non-profit organization, including supervisory roles.
- Experience in marketing, public relations, and fundraising.
- Broad decision-making experience in individual and team settings.
- Preferred experience in lung cancer, oncology, cancer research, clinical trials, or therapeutic options.

Salary: $200,000 - $250,000 per year
Experience required: 4 years in cancer research and diagnostics, 5 years managing CRO or SMO operations.
