Job Summary:

The President and General Manager, reports to and works closely with the President for the Dehumidification and DOAS group of businesses and sets the operating and strategic agenda to take the UCA organization, currently a $35M to a $70M business over the next 3 years.

The purview spans all aspects of the commercial, financial, and operational decision-making for the business to support the anticipated growth plan. The role will make decisions around design and cost structure, personnel, manufacturing footprint and overall strategy. This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate to make a business their own and grow within a very special, high-performing group of businesses.

The General Manager will be located in York, PA and 25% – 30% travel is required; primarily to visit customers and industry marketing events and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Owns the full P&L and has responsibility for executing overall vision, strategy, and year-over-year double digit profitable growth of with an emphasis on new product features or offerings which are differentiators, productivity, and talent development.
  • Develop and execute ST and LT strategic plan to deliver growth objectives
  • Foster a high-performance culture by promoting employee engagement, teamwork, and development opportunities.
  • Oversee daily operations, ensure efficiency and productivity across all teams.
  • Manage and direct processes to meet or exceed production targets, quality standards, and cost controls.
  • Provide leadership and direction across all departments including production, engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, human resources and employees, ensuring clear goals, accountability and performance metrics.
  • Ensure plant profitability by managing costs, improving productivity, and reducing waste.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, fostering a culture of safety.
  • Provide strong and inspired leadership to all employees, promoting and maintaining strong employee engagement. Lead the UCA team and promote diverse teams that build upon the business culture.
  • Build and execute the blueprint to drive revenue and profit growth.
  • Build culture of accountability of manufacturing leadership team to achieve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and morale objectives.
  • Foster a culture of trust, bias for action and entrepreneurialism. Create a culture that has a front-line obsession with a fanatical focus on the customer.
  • This role will drive the growth of the business through innovation of product offerings/features to further separate UC A from competition then defining a commercial strategy leveraging a targeted selling approach and ensuring the successful execution of a tactical plan in line with key metrics.
  • Ensure the principles of Madison's 80/20 operating system are embraced by and executed across the organization. Evaluate the success of the organization using a focused set of strategic KPIs to determine ongoing business performance.
  • Fosters an environment of accountability that stimulates open communication, creativity, imagination, and collaboration to solve problems and drive growth and innovation.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop talent within manufacturing, commercial and engineering teams.

  • Develop and execute a plan to achieve 34% annual growth and sustain/grow EBIDTA conversion of 17% over the strategic cycle.

Ideal Experience

A proven track record (5+ years) as a standalone leader of an organization(s) of larger and smaller scales, complexity and market characteristics with full P&L, balance sheet and cash flow responsibility. Prior experience in industrials or HVAC preferred.

Leading Growth

Strong track record of delivering transformational, profitable growth using a well-developed operating and commercial took kit. Proven ability to create and execute a strategic plan to scale an organization to achieve growth with organic growth initiatives. Experience managing and optimizing diverse customer segments, value propositions and go-to-market programs. Evidence of successful “breakout” initiatives that set new industry standards and established new value propositions with traditional customers and in new market segments or business models.

Operational and Process Excellence

A foundation in operational excellence and integrated supply chain. Detailed knowledge of manufacturing economics and key value drivers for manufacturing success. Proven ability to implement and drive an operating model (80/20), process improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Prior experience with 80/20 preferred.

Accomplished Team Builder and Leadership Developer

Robust people leadership skills. Experience building, optimizing and leading high-performing, and diverse teams. A natural coach and builder of people. Demonstrated success as an inspiring leader and strong people manager, having built collaborative, achievement-oriented teams. Has the ability to develop an existing talent pool and recruit top performers.

Business Mindset/Financial Acumen

Strong business/financial management skills and demonstrated track record for meeting operational and financial goals.

Academic Credentials

A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree is preferred.
