FLSA Status: This is a 7-hour-per-day position following a ten-month work schedule. The role does not include a benefits package, it offers one sick day per month and four personal days annually. Compensation is based on the classified salary schedule.
Contact Information: JOB GOAL: The preschool paraprofessional assists a SPED preschool teacher with classroom, testing, and administrative duties. The position works with individual and small groups of students to increase basic learning skills. The principal duties of the position are performed in a classroom environment.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Meet Idaho Code 08.02.02.007.10 Paraprofessional requirements, which require at least a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED) and:
- Demonstrate through a state-approved academic assessment knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing or preparing students to be instructed as applicable to the academic areas they are providing support in or two(2) years of study at an accredited postsecondary educational institution or obtained an associate degree or higher -level degree.
Knowledge of:
- Basic educational procedures and objectives, including curriculum implementation, educational software, student evaluation and grading, record and report preparation, and classroom management;
- Basic tutoring methods and procedures;
- Operation of classroom instructional equipment;
- Operation of standard office equipment;
- Operation of a personal computer and job-related software.
Ability to:
- Follow written and oral instructions and observe District policies and procedures;
- Interpret and modify classroom instructions, materials, and presentations to the appropriate learning level of the assigned students;
- Prepare and provide basic classroom services, including but not limited to, instruction, tutoring, student evaluation, curriculum implementation, materials preparation, and classroom management;
- Prepare and maintain required records, files, reports, logs, statistics, and documentation;
- Perform basic office tasks including keyboarding, copying, and filing;
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, teachers and staff members, and other District personnel;
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- Perform multiple tasks simultaneously, including handling interruptions, and return to and complete tasks in a timely manner;
- Perform time management and scheduling functions, meet deadlines, and set task priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (or other duties assigned by the Superintendent or Board).
- Performs administrative and classroom assistance functions to support teachers in the Title I program;
- Provides tutoring, individual and group assistance, and direction to eligible students;
- Assists with testing to determine student needs;
- Processes registration, attendance, evaluation, and related records for eligible students;
- Prepares and maintains files, records, logs, reports, and other required program documentation;
- Performs administrative tasks including, but not limited to, keyboarding, copying, and filing;
- Assists teachers with classroom activities, classroom management, grading papers, clerical and record-keeping duties, creating and updating reports and files, and other documentation; and performing student observations, as directed;
- Performs substitute teacher duties in the absence of the teacher;
- Participates in appropriate training, workshop, and in-service programs;
- Maintains student and District confidentiality;
- Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with District policies, procedures and safety practices.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES: - Performs teacher assistant, lunchroom, playground, bus, and other monitoring duties as assigned;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EVALUATION: The performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the Evaluation of Classified personnel.

- Operate a keyboard or type, handle materials, and operate standard office equipment and specialized library equipment;
- Lift or move objects that weigh up to 30 lbs.;
- Perform repetitive hand movement in gripping, and hand/wrist/arm movements.
