• The Prepress Specialist will set the foundation for successful printing production.
• They ensure that the proper format, appearance, and layout of text and images is set before the full print run for signs, brochures, catalogs, packaging materials or labels is completed.
• Prepress specialists take electronic files and import them into Adobe and other related printing software, making color, text, and digital image corrections as needed.
• They prep the files to create a digital proof and then ensure the files are staged and delivered to the proper device based on its unique files requirements.

Job Summary:

• Primary: Verify supplied files have the correct color, layout, images, and text. Proof creation and submission to CSR/Client. Impose approved files for print production on various print devices via several different print methods. Prepare specified files for cutting and other finishing processes.
• Secondary: Assist Creative Supervisor in the development of creative projects from concept to completion by translation of marketing objectives into creative designs. Works with the creative team in production of all advertising and marketing collateral.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Contributes to building a positive team spirit and puts success of the team above own interest

• Offers assistance, training, and support to co-workers
• Ability to manage files and proper file formats
• Accurate time management and recording
• Ability to consistently build press-ready files
• Provide resources and assistance to Creative Supervisor
• Impose files into existing impositions or create impositions to job jacket specifications
• Proof jobs as specified (digital proof, laser proof, PDF, JPEG, etc.)
• Check proof for accuracy: bleeds, copy, color builds, etc.
• Resize files to scale
• Assist with typesetting or file creation as necessary
• Mockup and prepare proofs for client approval (cutting, gluing, taping, and folding)
• Perform color adjustments and corrections
• Work within budget and time commitments
• Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment
• Perform additional responsibilities as requested by management

Qualifications:

• General knowledge of digital and offset printing processes and impositions strongly preferred
• 2-4 years of graphic arts industry experience required and/or prepress training for offset and large format print production
• Detail-oriented with strong math and analytical skills
• Must be hardworking, a self-starter, and a problem solver
• Excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to multitask and maintain a positive attitude under tight deadlines
• Strong computer skills on both Mac and PC platforms
• Familiarity with the latest creative/production software (various RIP programs, Metrix, SmartStream plugin, etc.)
• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as business demands
• Comfortable working in environments with fluorescent lighting and air conditioning
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent schedule and priority changes
