Job Description :

The Preconstruction Assistant Project Manager (Precon APM) will support the preconstruction team, assisting with analyzing project plans, preparation of cost estimates, gathering bids, and collaborating with project teams to ensure seamless handoff. This role is essential in maintaining ICON Builders commitment to delivering high-quality construction projects within budget and on schedule.

This is a full-time on-site role at the ICON Builders Tempe, Arizona location.

Estimating and Preconstruction:

  • Analyze project site, specifications, drawings, and project documents to assist with the development of accurate costs estimates.
  • Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids per trade to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed quantity take-offs and bid proposal packages.
  • Assist with maintaining cost databases for historical pricing and project benchmarking.
  • Assist with maintaining subcontractor and vendor database.
  • Collaborate with internal team and external partners to refine budgets and proposals.
  • Prepare submittals, RFIs and maintain preconstruction meeting notes.
  • Assist with conducting site walks, and prequalification of subcontractors.
  • Help draft and manage scopes of work.
  • Support the development and updating of project schedules.

Team & Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with project team to ensure seamless handoff from preconstruction to construction.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain organization and timeliness in daily tasks.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Utilize technology to drive efficiencies in processes.

Company Support:

  • Assist in maintaining a database of historical costs and construction information.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate project documentation is saved in accordance with company standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Construction industry experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Skilled in reading and understanding plans, with the ability to extract relevant details for scope, quantity takeoffs, or coordination
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively
  • Ability to travel to jobsite as necessary
