Job Summary:

Northern Nevada Health System is a regional multi-facility system offering quality care to the greater Truckee Meadows. The Pre-Admission Registered Nurse (RN) will provide direct and indirect patient care in the Pre-admission testing area, communicating with healthcare professionals about patient conditions and performing various nursing duties. The role also involves maintaining performance improvement activities and participating in educational classes.

Responsibilities:

• Ability to perform a head-to-toe assessment on all patients and reassessments as per policy and determines appropriate needs of assigned patients as evidence by appropriate documentation. This includes: pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.

• Ability to adequately assess and reassess pain. Utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. Educates the patient and family regarding pain management.

• Ability to perform waived testing (point-of-care testing) per Clinical Laboratory's and the resident care unit's policies and procedures.

• Insures appropriate patient preparation as well as timely completion of chart prior to surgery, special procedure, transfer or discharge.

• Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and their families. Functions as liaison between administration, patients, physicians and other healthcare providers.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Current state Registered Nurse Licensure, within state of practice.

• Current BLS certification.

Preferred:

• ACLS and PALS preferred
