Powertrain Controls Engineer Are you looking for a role where you can use your knowledge of integration of components into an OEM chassis to improve the drivability of the product as a complete system, including joining offsite test trips, working closely with the OEM integration teams onsite, and working as an extension of those teams? We have a position for a customer engineering role who has experience with integration and installation of tier 1 products into an Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) product. What you will be doing:
- On-Site Powertrain Controls Engineer for an engine tier 1 supplier at an OEM
- Troubleshooting engine system including software, controls, and electronic systems
- Following troubleshooting trees independently, working with technicians to carry out investigation & resolution, tracking issues with clear documentation of outcomes and strong communication skills (interface with engineers, techs and customers) are desired.
- Acceleration/transient response - gear shifts, transitions in/out of coasting and engine braking
- Low speed maneuverability - light pedal vehicle behavior, with/without load and grades
- Cold start - Fuel blends and altitude
- Cruise control
- Altitude performance - drivability, low speed, accel, derate strategy/reporting for the transmission
- Launch (idle governor) tuning for rear axle ratio range and transmission variants with PTC and transmission supplier jointly
- Extended idle performance (desorb and soot)
- PTO gain tuning for customer applications
- Torque limiting with brake application and powertrain component limits (max torque per gear, axle shaft, etc.)
- System integration including CAN communication and subsystem diagnostic communication

What you'll need to be successful:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical / Electronics Engineering, or similar technical field
- Experience in engine system including software, controls and electronic systems level troubleshooting
- Following troubleshooting trees independently, working with technicians to carry out investigation & resolution, tracking issues with clear documentation of outcomes and strong communication skills (interface with engineers, techs and customers) are desired.
- Calterm and other field and engineering tools are utilized for ECM software and calibration interface during the troubleshooting
- Customer interfacing powertrain and vehicle integration experience is a plus but not required.

- Systems engineering is desired
- AutoSAR experience is preferred
