Summary: The Powder Processing Operator weighs out the proper amount of powder for the job to be run, loads powder into the grinding mill and adds water to the grinding mill. Transfers slurry from the grinding mill to the dryer. Operates the dryer, transfers dried powder to the separator, separates and then packages it.
Duties: Read and interpret router, planning sheets, and related technical data to assure control of the grinding, drying, separation and packaging processes to meet manufacturing and quality standards. Duties include weighing out powder for the grinding process and verifying it is the correct powder for the job. Clean and inspect equipment prior to operation. Measure the proper volume of water. Run grinding mill based on time on router. Transfer the slurry from the grinding mill to the dryer. Dry and grind slurry to produce a powder. Transfer powder to separator. Package and maintain proper labeling of containers. Perform specified equipment maintenance and cleaning. Use computer system to track inventory of powders. Operate lab equipment as required. Comply with all safety, quality, work rules and regulations. The positions of Powder Pressing Operator and Powder Pressing Technician with these positions an employee will work 12 hour shifts when the powder shop is running. The day crew works 48 hours one week and then 36 hours the next week. Having every other weekend off. When the powder shop is not running (several months out of the year) then they move to 8 hour shifts, 40 hours per week and are assigned jobs that would be a good fit with their skills.
