POSTDOC IN BEHAVIORAL NEUROSCIENCE - KENTNER LAB - MCPHS

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in the behavioral neuroscience laboratory at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in the School of Arts and Sciences. This position is funded through an active NIMH grant to study sex differences in inflammatory-induced perinatal programming and the underlying mechanisms that promote resiliency. Using rodent models, the research involves behavioral assessments, neuroendocrine and neurobiological analyses using standard techniques such as ELISA, western blotting, immunochemistry, and qPCR. The position is ideal for candidates interested in careers at small liberal arts/health sciences universities or in industry.

  • Conduct behavioral experiments, neuroanatomical techniques, and biochemical approaches
  • Plan and execute independent research projects, analyze data, and publish findings
  • Prepare grant proposals
  • Assist in supervising undergraduate and graduate students, ensuring good laboratory practices, scientific rigor, and safety
  • Additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
  • PhD in psychology, neuroscience, physiology, or related field
  • Experience with animal handling, fluorescence microscopy, cellular imaging, and molecular biology techniques (RT-PCR, western blotting)
  • Interest in training and mentoring students at an undergraduate university
  • Commitment to diversity and an inclusive work environment
Preferred
  • Experience with small-animal surgery (asset)
