The Koo Lab at the Simons Center for Quantitative Biology at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a motivated postdoctoral fellow specializing in machine learning and genomics. The role involves developing and applying advanced machine learning and deep learning techniques to explore sequence-function relationships in gene regulation, focusing on high-throughput functional genomics data. The goal is to understand cis-regulatory mechanisms influencing gene expression, including sequence motifs and regulatory elements, to contribute to precision medicine for complex diseases such as cancer.

Applicants should hold or expect to soon receive a PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computational Biology, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Biophysics). A strong publication record with first-author research papers or preprints is required. Candidates should have solid Python programming skills; familiarity with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX) is a plus. Knowledge of concepts like language models, explainable AI, causal inference, and related areas is beneficial but not mandatory. Experience in machine learning and genomics is desirable, but enthusiasm to learn is equally valued.
