Post Adoption SpecialistRequisition #: req15189 Salary Range: $27.41-30.00/hour Location: Fair Lawn, NJ Hours: Part-time (10-hours/week) This is a part-time position, 10 hours/week - 5 hours must be worked during regular business hours; remaining 5 hours flexible for evenings and weekends. As a Post Adoption Specialist, you will be primarily responsible for providing post adoption services in the branch's respective state and county. This individual is also responsible for leading information meetings and providing post adoption assessments. This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Respond to intake calls for post adoption services inclusive of background summaries, updates between triad members, medical or adoption subsidy assistance, crisis assessment, and intervention and stabilization support;
  • Effectively conduct the initial case assessment by phone or face-to-face interview to determine service needs and appropriate referral source;
  • Assist in coordinating services to the client if post legal services are indicated;
  • Administer the full comprehensive case process from referral to case closure;
  • Provide on-going support and advocacy for clients, and provide referrals as appropriate;
  • Attend school meetings, and medical or mental health appointments as appropriate for client support and advocacy;
  • Provide home studies and post placement services for adoptive families in accordance with the standards required by state licensure, COA and Bethany Christian Services;
  • Prepare for and facilitate evening support group meetings for post adoptive parents;
  • Assist with the coordination and facilitation of trainings, while also leading information meetings, which may occur after normal business hours;
  • Respond promptly to phone calls, emails, report and documentation requests in an organized manner;
  • Effectively promote Bethany's post adoption program through networking, community presentations, letter writing, calling of referral sources, and other avenues;
  • Attend trainings as needed and apply newly gained knowledge in service provision;
  • Participate in group clinical supervision;
  • Conduct in-home assessments and client visits;
  • Obtain and maintain the required training hours in accordance with state licensing, COA, and agency requirements;
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's level degree in Human Services, Social Work, or equivalent field of study from an accredited college;
  • At least two (2) years of post-education experience working with adoptive parents and the adoption process;
  • Active professional licensure in the state of the work location;
  • Demonstrated clinical and assessment skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state, community, and agency resources;
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, sometimes after normal business hours;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Computer skillssufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of MicrosoftOffice suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver'slicense with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate avehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurancecoverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.
