PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Portable Metrology Engineering Technologist to support a cutting-edge defense manufacturing program in York, PA. This is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a passion for dimensional inspection, engineering support, and hands-on technical work. You'll be joining a team that supports the inspection and quality validation of structures for U.S. combat vehicle programs. This is a contract-to-hire position, ideal for candidates who are eager to grow their careers in the defense and aerospace manufacturing sector. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct laser inspection and metrology activities on combat vehicle components, fixtures, and large structures
- Generate clear, detailed inspection and dimensional reports for Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
- Support new design integration and change implementation using laser data and inspection tools
- Interface with Program Management, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve issues and present findings
- Assist in preventative and corrective action plans based on inspection data analysis
- Retrieve and communicate quality data to both internal stakeholders and external customers
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- BS degree in a technical field, or Associate degree with 2+ years of experience in a technical/inspection role
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills
- Willingness to become hands-on with portable CMM equipment
- Interest in learning GD&T and working toward ASME Y14.5 certification
- Ability to think critically and contribute imaginative solutions to challenges
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a DoD manufacturing environment
- Exposure to PolyWorks or similar laser inspection software
- Basic understanding of GD&T principles
- Hands-on experience with portable CMMs (e.g., FARO Arm, Romer, Leica)
