Job Title: Metrology Specialist Location: York, PA Job Type: Long-term contract Pay: $36.24 per hour Shift: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM Position Overview The Metrology Specialist supports the Quality Manager by performing laser inspections and creating dimensional reports. This role focuses on inspecting fixtures and combat vehicle structures for military programs including AMPV, M88, Bradley, ACV, M109A7, and M992A3. Key Responsibilities
- Generate detailed inspection reports for Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams
- Conduct laser inspections for new design installations and support integration into manufacturing
- Perform inspections for new designs and design changes based on laser data
- Collaborate with Design Engineering, Program Management, Quality, and Manufacturing to resolve product issues
- Develop and present quality inspection plans and reports for internal teams and customers
- Review laser inspection data and identify preventative actions
- Retrieve and communicate quality data and inspection results
- Develop corrective action plans when required
Required Skills
- Ability to provide technical solutions to a range of problems
- Willingness to explore and suggest creative or alternative solutions to complex challenges
- Commitment to learning and applying GD&T and working toward ASME Y14.5 certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Hands-on approach and eagerness to learn how to use Portable CMM equipment
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in a Department of Defense manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with Polyworks or similar inspection software
- Basic understanding of GD&T
- Previous experience using Portable CMM equipment
Required Experience
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities in technical roles
- Openness to learning GD&T and obtaining ASME Y14.5 certification
- Solid computer skills with MS Office
- Willingness to engage in hands-on learning and equipment operation
Preferred Experience
- Previous work in a DoD manufacturing setting
- Experience using Polyworks or equivalent software
- Practical knowledge of GD&T
- Familiarity with Portable CMM tools
Education Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field OR
- Associate degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience
