Policy Manual Consultant (West Sacramento, CA)

LHH is teaming up with an educational non-profit in West Sacramento, CA in search of a Policy Manual Consultant to support policy development and consulting services for school districts and county offices of education.

This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of governance policies that shape educational institutions. The organization is committed to improving operational efficiency and policy accuracy through collaborative workshops and technical consulting. The position includes public engagement, policy training, and the chance to work with a diverse group of stakeholders across the state.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with a background in education policy, public administration, or related fields. They are comfortable presenting to various audiences, analyzing legislation, and managing complex projects. Experience in policy drafting and stakeholder engagement is essential, along with the ability to travel and work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and revise policy manuals and sample policies.
  • Facilitate policy development workshops and provide technical assistance.
  • Analyze federal and state legislation and recommend policy updates.
  • Present policy documents to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage project timelines, stakeholder communications, and policy updates.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with district and county education offices.
  • Respond to inquiries and provide consultative services on policy matters.
  • Travel overnight throughout California for workshops and engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education policy, public administration, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in policy research or analysis, preferably in education or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong writing, presentation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and draft technical documents.
  • Willingness to travel overnight 2–3 times per month.

Job Type: Limited-term contract (approximately two years)

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Hybrid – minimum three days on-site in West Sacramento, CA

Hours: Full-time

Salary: 62,000.00 - $73,000.00/Year
