Primary Duty

This position is responsible for supervising all aspects of plywood manufacturing, including safety, planning, scheduling, and production. The role involves inspecting and shipping products, maintaining physical structures and equipment, and controlling inventories, quality, and costs. The candidate must understand and promote internal manufacturing processes aligned with the business model, coordinate operational phases for smooth workflow, and ensure quality and performance meet delivery commitments.

Essential Functions

  • Implement company policies, procedures, and management actions to ensure compliance with Sustainable Forestry Management standards and third-party certifications (SFI, FSC, PEFC) and Chain-of-Custody requirements.
  • Promote the company's SFI commitment and sustainable forestry practices among employees, wood producers, and suppliers.
  • Staff efficiently to manage labor and resources, ensuring safe, productive operations.
  • Develop and maintain budgets and operating plans.
  • Establish controls and reporting systems for safety, budget, quality, production, and maintenance, reporting to leadership.
  • Assist in strategic planning, including budgeting, capital projects, inventory management, new product lines, training, staffing, and environmental compliance.
  • Coordinate production planning and scheduling to optimize equipment use and meet customer demands.
  • Ensure safe and healthy working conditions for all employees.
  • Lead Boise Improvement Cycle (BIC) activities.
  • Identify and deploy best practices across the manufacturing facility.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Develop employee relations, handle grievances, and communicate effectively with staff.
  • Communicate operational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Train and develop workforce to meet job requirements.
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience/Physical Functions

College degree or equivalent work experience in related fields such as Information Systems, MIS, Computer Science, or Networking is preferred, with certifications a plus. Requires 8-10 years of relevant experience. Must be self-motivated, results-oriented, with strong analytical, communication, planning, and organizational skills. Knowledge of manufacturing practices and equipment is essential. Ability to work well with people at all levels and facilitate change in a team environment is required.

Decision-Making/Supervisory

Manages professional and supervisory staff, accountable for team performance. Guides departmental plans, addresses resource challenges, and influences outcomes through policies and business plans. Provides technical guidance and uses expertise to achieve results.
