Associated Materials Innovations is a leader in exterior building products for residential and commercial remodeling and new construction markets. We produce vinyl windows and distribute these and other essential building products to ensure customers find everything they need for their exteriors. The AMI Kinston facility is part of the Windows segment of the overall enterprise with nearly a half million windows produced annually.

Position Overview:

The Plant Manager – Kinston has the responsibility to build up the plant operations processes and culture. Under the general direction of the Vice President of Operations, the Plant Manager (PM) position is responsible for, and directs and manages all plant operations. This position has the overall responsibility for production at their respective manufacturing facility, and for driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and Continuous Improvement (CI) activities and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

  • Lead by Example: Be a visible, hands-on leader who inspires and builds trust with the workforce. Have an impactful leadership presence on the shop floor.
  • Champion Safety: Advocate for safe work practices and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
  • Plan and Prioritize: Develop and execute efficient production plans to meet specifications and minimize delays.
  • Drive Performance: Analyze data, address operational issues, and implement improvements to optimize production and reduce costs.
  • Enhance Equipment Reliability: Oversee preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Foster Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve processes, inventory methods, and workforce performance. A problem-solver who identifies and implements innovative solutions.
  • Develop Team Members: Implement cross-training programs and provide development opportunities for employees.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with other supervisors and the BU Process Engineering Team to drive enterprise-wide success. A team-oriented leader who works effectively with employees and other departments.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain regulatory compliance while enforcing company policies and standards.
  • Directs and manages all Plant operations in accordance with AMI Mission & Values and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Coordinates all plant activities by working with Production and Departmental Managers to ensure that total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner using LEAN manufacturing processes.
  • Oversees the implementation of safety and preventative maintenance programs, incorporating and driving safety procedures and Plant cleanliness as a priority.
  • Incorporates shop floor organization with applicable Process Engineering personnel, to ensure production processes are fluid, efficient, and effective.
  • Proven Leadership Skills: A strong, hands-on leader who builds trust and inspires confidence.
  • KPI Management Expertise: Experience working with and driving improvements through key performance indicators.
  • Operational Experience: Strong knowledge of production, warehouse, and equipment maintenance practices.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to connect with and motivate employees at all levels.
  • Provides leadership and training to accomplish corporate goals/objectives/KPI's.
  • Hires, trains, develops and appraises team effectively.
  • Manage, coach, lead & develop plant management roles
  • Ensure operations are conducted in a safe and regulatory compliant manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, business or related field is required.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques and Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of business, finance, quality control systems and standards.
  • Advanced leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and drive manufacturing process improvement techniques through the production process in a skillful and deliberate manner.
  • A team player, and the ability to coach and mentor for the AMI cultural values.
  • Superior motivational skills and the ability to train, and drive CI methods and initiatives into managers and subordinate personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across multiple levels of the business.
  • Advanced understanding of KPI's, corporate goals, and profit margins and objectives.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, corporate, managers, employees, clients, and the public.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment as well as being an effective team player.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
  • Strong PC knowledge and skills: Windows, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
