Position Summary
The Plant Manager will provide leadership and coaching to develop a positive and high performing team focused on achieving quality products. Responsibilities include continuous improvement initiatives, quality management processes, production, maintenance, engineering and Health and Safety requirements within an FDA regulated facility.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for meeting operations budgetary goals in productivity, labor, and spending.
- Responsible for maintaining a healthy pipeline of initiatives to improve productivity, quality, safety and sustainability to reduce costs and carbon footprint and support the company's targets.
- Develop staffing plans to meet demand and optimize equipment, process, and teammate efficiency.
- Monitors organizational and individual performance, participates in talent planning and development and builds organizational capability.
- Ensures accountability to our policies and company values.
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for plant leadership.
- Leads and/or support our various reward, recognition and engagement activities such as surveys, engagement plans, company recognition tools, culture team activities, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring plant is always FDA/cGMP and OSHA compliant and audit ready.
- Works with plant leaders and teammates to coordinate an overall strategy of continuous improvement with emphasis on process improvement.
- Supports teamwork and promotes and practices the company's values and behaviors.
- Perform any additional job-related duties as requested.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or relevant discipline from an accredited institution is required. A post graduate degree in engineering or MBA is desirable
- Minimum of eight years' experience in operations, engineering or maintenance manager role within a manufacturing environment
- Experience managing a departmental budget
- High level of personal communication skills and ability to motivate teams within a manufacturing environment
- Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement knowledge and implementation experience desirable
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Working knowledge of an FDA regulated facility and experience in cGMP is desired
- Inventory and raw material management experience desired
- Core competencies of continuous performance, team leadership, change management, strategic thinking, collaboration, innovation, continuous improvements/Lean and developing the organization.
- Advanced knowledge in principles of manufacturing and technical understanding of mechanical concepts.
- Basic knowledge in ERP system.
Work Environment
- Some travel required
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Work schedule is projected to be typical business hours, but work will be required on night shifts and weekends to support business needs.
- Exposure to health risks or conditions that may require the use of Personal Protective Equipment
- Must have strong rapport across functional groups
- Will work in some areas with ambient temperature environments
