Position: Plant Engineering ManagerReports to: Director, Plant ManagerType: Full-timeCompensation: $110,000 – $175,000 base (based on experience) + 15% bonus eligibilityTravel: 1–3 times per year for training and conferencesPosition Overview

This critical leadership role oversees preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, work order systems, project engineering, design, and installation across multiple manufacturing locations. The Engineering & Maintenance Manager provides technical guidance to plant engineers, leads capital and expense projects, and supports continuous improvement in equipment reliability, regulatory compliance, and plant performance. This position plays a key role in ensuring operational efficiency, cost control, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with plant leadership to execute short- and long-term engineering objectives in alignment with corporate standards.

  • Manage capital and expense projects including labor, repairs, maintenance, and outside contractor services.

  • Lead facility expansion, renovation, and equipment design projects to improve capacity, productivity, and efficiency.

  • Maintain engineering specifications and operational parameters to ensure process stability and optimal performance.

  • Provide strategic guidance to plant maintenance teams to achieve process improvements and reduce operational costs.

  • Identify and apply best practices across multiple sites to improve reliability and cost-efficiency.

  • Assist with budget planning and ensure completion of maintenance tasks within budgetary limits.

  • Support and improve wastewater treatment operations and ensure environmental compliance.

  • Develop and implement corrective action plans based on root cause analysis and regulatory requirements.

  • Mentor and train team members on evolving technologies and procedures.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to improve equipment performance and customer satisfaction.

  • Ensure that environmental policies, procedures, and reports meet current regulatory requirements and company standards.

  • Follow GMPs and all food safety, quality, and sanitation regulations.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in engineering or maintenance roles within a food manufacturing environment.

  • Proven leadership in project management, environmental compliance, PLC programming, and capital budgeting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

  • Knowledge of safety and compliance best practices.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS/maintenance software systems.

  • Strong critical thinking, mathematical, and analytical skills.

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to simplify technical topics.

  • Skilled at building effective cross-functional relationships.

  • Ability to manage conflict professionally and adapt to change quickly.

  • English fluency required.
