Incumbents review and approve commercial and multi-family construction plans, prepare and present information to Boards, and perform the duties of the lower levels. ***PLEASE NOTE: THIS POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN THROUGH AUGUST 8, 2025, OR UNTIL FILLED.*** Example of DutiesSPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions:
- Reviews and approves commercial and multi-family construction plans and specifications.
- Interprets building and zoning requirements and restrictions to architects, contractors, builders, and the general public.
- Researches and evaluates customer complaints; notifies appropriate individuals of issues; verifies complaints have been resolved.
- Reviews, prepares, and maintains a variety of reports, logs, and/or other related documentation related to inspection results, complaint resolutions, and/or other related issues.
- Monitors regulatory building code updates, revisions, additions, and/or changes; ensures staff are informed of code changes.
- May be required to attend meetings related to job specifications.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Typical QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Plans Examination, or a related field;
- One (1) year of construction or inspection experience;
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
License and Certifications
- Plumbing, Mechanical, Electric and Building Inspector Certification. (Preferred)
- ICC Plans Examiner Certification.
- Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements: The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
