Main Purpose of Job
The Natural Resources and Working Lands Analyst supports the Department's responsibilities in natural and working lands planning and policy, including environmental planning, land preservation and recreation planning, water resource regeneration and management, Chesapeake Bay restoration, and climate change policy development and implementation. The position works with other staff from MDP, other state agencies, local governments, federal agencies, various stakeholders and the public toward addressing the Administration's priorities for the state of Maryland.
The Natural Resources and Working Lands Analyst provides technical and policy assistance to local governments, sister agencies, and others on land preservation and recreation planning, watershed planning, Chesapeake Bay initiatives, and climate change mitigation and adaptation. The role involves supporting regional, state, and federal environmental initiatives and may include other planning projects, such as those supporting the Maryland Sustainable Growth Subcabinet.

Minimum Qualifications
A strong environmental background and knowledge of local, state, and other planning processes are essential. Excellent analytical and research skills are required. Ability to learn quickly, manage multiple projects, and be efficient and productive.
Education: Bachelor's degree including 30 credit hours in Planning, Environmental Science, Studies, Architecture, Public Administration, Engineering, Geography, Landscape Architecture, Economics, Public Finance, Political Science, Sociology, Regional Science, IT, or Urban Affairs.
Experience: Three years in research and planning projects related to land, water, transportation, community, or natural resources development and use, including analysis of demographic, socio-economic, political, cultural, geographic, or land-use trends.
