  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning.

  • Basic knowledge of civil engineering principles relating to a variety of plat review discipline including grading and drainage street improvements, water, sewer, and fire protection.
  • Knowledge of the principles of urban planning, economics, sociology and municipal finance as they apply to planning and community development.
  • Knowledge of City codes related to building, construction, plumbing, gas electricity and related fields.
  • Knowledge of computer software: Microsoft Office, Internet applications and GIS.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate orally with other city employees, contractors, engineers and other governmental groups or the public on face-to-face or using a telephone.
  • Ability to review plans and apply provisions of the ordinances and codes to determine compliance with such regulations and to apply regulations to field conditions.
  • Ability to work on several projects or issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed.
