What We Need:We are seeking a part time
Planned Giving Officer to join our University Advancement team. Reporting to the Vice President for University Advancement, this role will educate and inspire alumni, faculty, staff, and friends to support SPU through cash and planned gifts. The position will carry a portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects, and serve as a trusted resource to colleagues on deferred giving concepts and tax-advantageous philanthropy tools. This is a relationship-centered role with a strong focus on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
What You Will Do:- Donor Portfolio Management:
- Manage and develop authentic, professional relationships with individuals, families, and their advisors within a dynamic portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects.
- Set and achieve annual goals for personal visits, portfolio engagement, solicitations, and closed gifts.
- Establish and maintain a schedule of monthly personal visits, including stewardship responsibilities.
- Gift Strategy Development:
- Create thoughtful, holistic strategies for each assigned donor or prospect, guiding them through the giving cycle from identification to stewardship.
- Encourage philanthropic investments aligned with SPU's mission and help donors pass on their values to future generations.
- Collaboration & Education:
- Partner with colleagues to identify and pursue blended gift opportunities.
- Serve as a resource for planned giving concepts, including charitable bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, donor advised funds, real estate, and securities.
- Professional Development & Project Work:
- Enhance knowledge of philanthropic topics through ongoing learning.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of experience in fundraising or sales/business development.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex philanthropic topics to a diverse audience.
- Experience with high-volume outreach and managing multiple donor relationships simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently, and experience managing projects within budget and timelines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and general office technology.
- Personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm for SPU's mission, alignment with the University's Statement of Faith, and willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
Preferred Qualifications:- Professional certifications such as Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAPĀ®), Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or other advanced study in philanthropy.
- Prior experience in higher education advancement or planned giving.
Compensation:This is a part time posiion, approximately 19 hours a week. $33.65 - $36.06 per hour, DOE.
