Steamfitter

We are seeking an experienced Pipefitter with over 5 years of experience in steam fitting, pipefitting, or industrial mechanical work. The ideal candidate will have proficiency with steam traps, piping systems, and plumbing tools. This position involves working on the installation, assembly, and maintenance of piping systems, including steam systems, as part of a large-scale project.

Responsibilities

Install, assemble, and maintain piping systems, including steam systems.

Understand and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Perform duct work and ensure proper installation.

Troubleshoot and repair piping systems.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.

Work flexibly across different locations as needed.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pipefitter (5+ years preferred).
• Strong experience in steam systems and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in fabrication, brazing, and welding.
• Proficiency in installation and maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Understanding of schematic and blueprint reading.

Work Environment

Work Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm, with potential variations depending on the project. The role is based at Virginia Tech and with carpooling options available from Park and Ride in Salem, VA. Work in both indoor and outdoor climates, with a commitment to bringing employees home each night. Required PPE includes a hard hat, safety vest, and steel-toed boots.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Blacksburg, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
