Chipton-Ross is seeking Pipe Welders for a contract opportunity in Marinette, WI.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE): Must have 5 years minimum of construction or mechanical experienceAbility to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.Ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or when its parts are moved or rearranged.Ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.WELDING TEST GUIDELINES:Pipe test are all done on 6 sch 40. All pipe tests are done in the 6G position. You will have a 2 hour time limit on each test. There are 4 bend specimens in each test. 2 root bends and 2 face bends. We mostly test on carbon pipe but will test on stainless and copper nickel as needed with the work at hand.The tests are as follows:GTAW all the way-out open rootSMAW with backing ringFCAW with backing ringGMAW short circuit open root with FCAW fill and coverAcceptance criteria:Reinforcement / cover passes must be stacked from the bottom to the topReinforcement cannot be below flush and shall not exceed 1/8 Undercut shall not exceed 1/32 Weld shall be free of porosity, cracks, incomplete fusion.Welds are to be in the as welded conditionWeld root must be a minimum of flushbacking rings shall not have burn throughBend Acceptance criteria:Discontinuities are not counted under 1/32 Any discontinuities that exceed 1/8 are rejectedTotal of discontinuities cannot exceed 3/8 POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Follows directions under intermittent supervision.Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits.Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.Select and install torches, torch tips, filler rods, and flux, according to welding chart specifications or types and thicknesses of metals.Lay out, position, align, and secure parts prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.Examine work pieces for defects and measure work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using flux-cored arc.Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisors.Use fire suppression methods in industrial emergencies.Gouge metals, using the air-arc gouging process.Troubleshoot problems with all equipment as it arises.May be assigned miscellaneous tasks outside craft as required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):3+ years experience preferredPrior shipyard experience a plusFabrication experience in a Military environment a plusAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentREQUIRED EDUCATION:Accredited HSD/GEDWORK HOURS:Full-TimeADDITIONAL:$120 daily per diemTo qualify you must hold a legal residence at least 50 miles away from the work site.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
