Pipe Fitter - Standard Inspection Services : Job Details

Location: San Diego, CA, USCompany: Standard Ship RepairLevel of Experience / Pay Bands: Any LevelReports to: Foreman Summary/Objective: Pipe Fitters fabricate and join metal pipes, valves, and fittings, and layout for installation from prints, diagrams, work orders, and/or verbal instructions using hand and powered hand tools. They must be familiar with OSHA requirements for safety and hot work onboard naval vessels.Duties include, but are not limited to:Ability to interpret and fabricate piping system components using prints, written and/or verbal directions in a shop environment.Accomplish removals, preparation, and installation of reused and new materials onboard naval vessels.Familiarity with the workmanship requirements of the following: MIL-STD-22, Welded Joint DesignS9074-AR-GIB-010_278, Requirements for Fabrication Welding and Inspection, and Casting Inspection and Repair for Machinery, Piping, and Pressure Vessels0900-LP-001-7000, Fabrication, and Inspection of Brazed Piping Systems.*Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education / Experience Required:Must be 18 years old.Must be able to work in the US.High School Diploma or equivalent.Completed a structured welding program.Must have a valid California driver's license. Must be able to obtain a DBIDS credentials.Must possess basic skills (reading, writing and mathematical skills).Preferred:A plus, previous experience in a ship repair environment.Understand the Naval Ship Repair requirements and working environment. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requires 40+ hours of work per week. M-F 0600 - 1430 (or as otherwise assigned by Project Manager) with pre-scheduled overtime as needed.Work Environment: This job operates in a shipyard work environment.Travel: This position does require ability to travel.
