Physician Support Representative - The University of Rochester : Job Details

Performs complex secretarial duties, in a fast-paced environment with minimal direction and considerable latitude for independent judgment for the Sleep Disorders Clinic. Main responsibilities include support of multiple physicians and nurse practitioners, coordination of patient care, addressing patient telephone calls and follow-through (with as-needed nursing staff/provider input), and information/data support. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serves as back up support for the Referral Coordinator, Prior Authorization Specialist, and frontend support. Reviews electronic chart work queues, in baskets and pools for continual management and triaging. Schedules outgoing referral requests. Reviews and manages order and order information queues, coordinates outgoing consult requests in the work queue, obtains prior authorizations when applicable. Obtains outside medical records.
