Physical TherapistLocation: Taconic Rehabilitation and Nursing at BeaconSHIFT: Full Time and Per Diem Sign-on Bonus: Up to $3,000 JOB DESCRIPTION: Physical Therapist Floats work with patients to improve their movement and manage their pain. PTs use a variety of techniques to help their patients, including hands-on therapy, strengthening and stretching exercises, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ice/heat, and much more. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting physical and psychological assessments of clients to understand their physical condition and developing or following a treatment plan.
- Participate in family care plan meetings and educate caregivers and family members of clients on patient care
- Creating personalized fitness-oriented health care programs for patients.
- Administer medically prescribed physical therapy treatments to relieve pain and improve mobility.
- Consult and collaborate with other healthcare professionals regarding patient.
- Documenting patient care history.
- Demonstrate ability to work with geriatric residents
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- New York State Physical Therapist licensure
- Degree in Physical Therapy from a program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Associtation (APTA) required
- CPR certification
- Physical strength to lift between 50-100lbs
- Must have knowledge, skills, and techniques of age specific developmental factors and be able to evaluate patients
- Must have up-to-date knowledge for treatment practices and physical therapy programs
- Experience in long term care preferred
- Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
- Strong customer service skills and compassion
- Able to collaborate with a wide range of health care disciplines, as well as offer insight to patient and family members
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Respect for residents' privacy and rights; display of genuine concern and empathy for the elderly
- Able to perform tasks while upholding high standards of quality, cleanliness, and kindness
