Job DetailsJob Location Corporate - Oneida, NY Position Type Full Time Salary Range $18.00 - $23.40 Hourly Job Shift Days DescriptionJob Title: Phlebotomy Supervisor Job Summary: The Phlebotomy Supervisor at Oneida Health plays a vital role in overseeing the operations of the Laboratory patient-receiving area. This position involves supervising the phlebotomy team, including training, scheduling, and reviewing their work. The Phlebotomy Supervisor ensures the efficient and accurate collection of blood and other specimens for laboratory analysis, maintaining detailed records to prevent errors that could impact diagnosis and treatment. This role reports to the Laboratory Manager and performs related duties as required. Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and participate in the collection of blood samples and other specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Supervise daily office functions such as providing routine information, processing records, and filing reports.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to phlebotomists, ensuring efficient workflow.
  • Maintain logs, records, and procedure manuals for office areas and satellite draw stations.
  • Assist the Laboratory Director in routine department operations related to the patient receiving area.
  • Participate in interviewing and hiring phlebotomists, providing recommendations to the Laboratory Director.
  • Supply necessary statistics and assist with quality assurance related to phlebotomy and office area operations.
  • Conduct periodic meetings with phlebotomists to update or review policies and procedures.
  • Train new phlebotomists or assign mentors to ensure proper onboarding and skill development.
  • Maintain daily records and maintenance of equipment, such as the sweat chloride machine.
  • Manage inventory of supplies required for departmental operations.
  • Provide care and treatment to patients of all ages as assigned.
  • Supervise and oversee satellite draw stations.
QualificationsQualifications:Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in phlebotomy, including supervisory or leadership experience.
Licensure and Certification:
  • Certification in phlebotomy preferred.
Soft Skills:
  • Good knowledge of standard laboratory practices, techniques, and safety precautions.
  • Ability to supervise, plan, assign, and review the work of others.
  • Proficiency in drawing blood samples.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports and maintain detailed records.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Mental alertness and good judgment.
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
