Job Description Job Description Phlebotomist-Part-time Job Description The primary role of a phlebotomist is to safely and accurately draw blood from patients for medical testing, transfusions, donations, or research. Responsibilities Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups. Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests, etc. Accurately and promptly perform data entry of patient information. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. Verify all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for 100% accuracy. Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and ensure proper labeling. Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Process billing information and collect payments when necessary. Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis. Maintain patient and specimen information logs. Provide superior customer service to all patients. Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary. Essential Skills Phlebotomy skills, including blood draw and specimen processing. Proficiency in venipuncture and specimen collection. Phlebotomy certification is welcomed but not required. Minimum of 1 years of experience, with at least 6 months performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Possession of a High School Diploma or GED. Reliable transportation. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with medical, laboratory, pediatric, and geriatric environments. Skills in using butterfly needles and drawing blood. Healthcare. Work Environment The position has locations in Albany and Latham, NY with working hours from 5PM to 9PM, Monday to Friday and Saturday 11AM-3PM. The work is conducted in a fast-paced lab setting, and candidates will be part of a large national company, providing opportunities for long-term employment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
