We are currently looking for a Part Time 29 Phlebotomist/Laboratory Aide I to join our Laboratory Phlebotomy Group team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center working 6:00AM-3:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr. Summary: Provides phlebotomy services, non-technical and semi-technical services in the clinical laboratory. Responsibilities: * Obtains adequate and proper specimens from patients for laboratory testing * Instructs patients on proper test collection and preparation * Follows appropriate guidelines based on the age and condition of the patient in collecting specimens for testing * Treats all patients and family with care and respect and maintain a cooperative attitude with fellow employees to facilitate quality patient care * Orders and accession laboratory tests through the laboratory information system and assist other personnel with laboratory test orders * Complies with all safety and infection control policies and procedures * Assists the Laboratory Clerk/Medical Technologist with non-technical tasks and clerical duties * Manages and orders office inventory, equipment, uniforms and/or other operational supplies * Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types - Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner - Greets and engages with a smile - Determines needs, seeks positive experience and outcomes * Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities * Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types - Maintains general upkeep of work area and maintains a safe environment - Maintains and promotes professionalism - Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics - Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards * Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc. * Performs all other duties as assigned Competencies: Essential: * Able to follow instructions, both written and oral * Ensures compliance * Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements * Maintaining a high level of confidentiality and using discretion and discernment * Must be detail-oriented * Ability to work independently * Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability * Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines * Understand Native American culture and tribal programs * Possess basic knowledge of medical terminology * Ability to multitask * Works well within a team * Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management * Writes effective communications with team, departments, guests and management * Keeps written records * Maintains clear and complete employee health records Skills: Experience: Essential: * No prior experience required Education: Essential: * High School, GED or Equivalent Credentials: Essential: * Pass general background check * Standard Driver's License * Phlebotomy Technician Certification Working Conditions: Essential: * Works in a hospital or clinic environment * Potential exposure to biohazards * Potential exposure to contagious diseases * May be required to assist individuals who are hostile, agitated or under the influence * Face shield * Gloves * Frequently bend, kneel, stoop, push, reach * Use computer up to 50% of shift * Hand-eye coordination, reach and grasp * Sometimes lift and or carry up to 25 lbs * Sitting up to 50% of shift * Standing up to 75% of shift * Walking up to 50% of shift * May work day shift * May work evening shift * May work holidays * May work night shift * May work rotating shifts * May work weekend shift * Pass pre-employment drug test
