St. Vincents Medical Center in Bridgeport has more than 3,200 employees. It includes a 473-bed community teaching hospital, a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility in Westport, a large multispecialty provider group, and special needs services for adults and children. St. Vincents is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and is the systems second-largest hospital.

Duties: The Phlebotomist II is responsible for collecting venous and capillary blood specimens from patients in a safe and accurate manner according to established lab policies and practices. Additionally, is responsible for maintaining inventory, dispatch scheduling and Epic registration. Demonstrates H3W behaviors with a focus on excellent patient exceptional patience and quality service and outcomes.

Qualifications
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 1 year phlebotomy experience
  • Knowledge of venipuncture techniques
  • Excellent customer service skills with a professional attitude
  • Good keyboarding skills with ability to learn various laboratory application and HHC computer systems
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to handle different patient population including difficult patients.
  • Strong trouble shooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to operate required lab equipment including pneumatic tube
