Apply today and start your next adventure with us!POSITION OVERVIEWTitle: PhlebotomistWage Range: $21.25-$25.38Schedule: Status: Non-ExemptSummary: The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood and other specimens from patients in a safe, accurate, and timely manner. This role plays a vital part in the diagnostic process and requires strong attention to detail, excellent patient care skills, and strict adherence to safety and infection control protocols.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: (will include, but not be limited to)
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages, including children 1 and older
- Verify patient identity and ensure accurate specimen labeling
- Maintain accurate documentation and enter data into electronic health records (EHR)
- Handle and transport specimens according to protocol and safety standards
- Provide compassionate, professional care to all patients
- Maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies in a clean, organized state
- Follow infection control guidelines and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- Communicate effectively with clinical and laboratory staff
- Occasionally assist with other clinical duties as needed
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program.
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician
- Current CPR/BLS
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with Native American population in a healthcare setting, 2+ years preferred.
- Prior experience in a clinical or laboratory setting is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods; climbing stairs and step-stools; stooping, kneeling, crouching, balancing, and reaching; pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 30 pounds; and raising objects overhead. The role also requires manual dexterity for operating computers and phones, as well as hearing, talking, and strong verbal and written communication skills.Repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers are involved. The employee may be subject to outdoor environmental conditions such as heat and cold, and will be required to walk on uneven ground.
