The incumbent in this position is responsible for collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. Accurately obtains blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures with minimum patient discomfort. Ensures age-appropriate care is provided to patients from infant to geriatric. Ensures specimen integrity by following the laboratory's procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing. Promotes quality patient/client relations and creates supportive climate. Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory. Adheres to all laboratory policies and regulations.

Essential Job FunctionsEducation: 16 years of age minimum. Completion of Phlebotomy Certification course work or phlebotomy experience preferred but not required. On the job training available. Courses in mathematics and science, preferred.
Certification: BLS within 180 days of employment. Completion of Phlebotomy Certification course work or phlebotomy experience preferred.
