Pharmacy Technician - Casual

Schedule: Casual, must be available to work shifts of either 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM, 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM, or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM.
\n
Purpose:Responsible for the proper storage and distribution of drugs; receives and accounts for drugs coming from all vendors. Delivers medications to patient care and other areas; picks up drug returns and applicable paperwork; and puts all returned unit-dose products back to proper receipts. Responsible for filling patient drug boxes, floor stock orders, and automated dispensing cabinets. Assists Pharmacists as directed. Maintains daily report.Responsibilities:

\n- Accurately fills floor stock request.
\n- Prepare correct labeling for bulk drugs.
\n- Perform basic pharmaceutical calculations.
\n- Basic understanding of concept of physical stability and chemical stability as it relates to parenteral pharmaceuticals.
\n- Correctly interpret physician orders and can distinguish between pharmaceutical orders, laboratory tests, radiology, nursing, and other orders.
\n- Perform monthly medication storage area inspections.
\n- Selects drugs from stock in proper dose, dosage form, and quantity as ordered by physician under direct supervision of a pharmacist.
\n- Understands microbial contamination and exhibits Aseptic Technique while preparing sterile pharmaceutical products.
\n- Repackages drugs into a unit-of-use container.
\n
\n- Education and Formal Training Required: High School Diploma or GED required.
\n- Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
\n- Must be familiar with typewriter keyboard and demonstrate the ability by producing a neat, accurate, and legible copy.
\n- Individual must have the ability to adapt to the computerized Pharmacy Information Systems utilized.
\n- Individual must demonstrate initiative and good judgment.
