Prescription Processing. Accurately enters new prescriptions and prescription refills into pharmacy computer system. Updates patient information including insurance so that prescriptions adjudicate. Resolves third-party rejects by identifying the need for override or prior authorization and contacts the appropriate people to assist in processing of claims. Prepares prescriptions by printing labels, counting or pouring medication and placing in correct container, and labeling prescriptions for dispensing. Completes a prospective drug utilization review for all new prescriptions. Customer CarePromptly greets patients as they enter the pharmacy. Receives handwritten prescriptions and acquires the information needed in processing the prescription. Assists patients in finding over-the-counter products and ordering if necessary. Answers phones in courteous manner, identifying the pharmacy and who they are. Accepts refill requests, transfers calls when appropriate.
