Job Description :
Oncology Pharmacist Schedule: Full-time, 80 hours per pay period. 8:00 to 5:00 pm* Flexible schedule. Position Summary: The Oncology Pharmacist provides clinical and distribution services in collaboration with physicians and nursing staff to ensure safe and cost-effective medication therapy for patients. Supervises support personnel and participates in various departmental initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees drug therapy treatment plans and protocols as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Reviews, interprets, monitors, and evaluates medication orders to identify, prevent, and resolve potential or actual drug-related issues.
  • Provides drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
  • Documents interventions and their outcomes to support drug therapy quality improvement initiatives.
  • Assesses and assists in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Supports the pharmacy buyer in managing oncology drug inventory and helps address drug shortages.
  • Collaborates with department directors, hospital administration, and other hospital personnel as needed or directed by the director.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. PharmD degree preferred.
  • Current Illinois Registered Pharmacist License required.
  • Completion of PGY-2 Oncology Residency or a minimum of 5 years non-dispensing oncology experience required
  • Board certification in oncology pharmacy specialty (BCOP) required within 18 months of hire
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with in-depth knowledge of Windows and pharmacy software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills required.
